I had started sketching this scene before I got sick. I was going to try my hand at rocks and there's hardly any better place to see rocks in a beautiful setting than at Matador Beach.
I had a series of photos taken the summer before last when my Italian niece, Giorgia, was visiting with her family. My brother in law had just bought me a new camera since I had "drowned" my original one while on a white water rapid trip down the Gallatin River. I have a wonderful little video of Tyler playing in the surf... but it's sideways... hard to watch but impossible to throw away the joyous giggles and screams as the water chases him back and forth.
Anyhow, since I got pneumonia I hadn't painted. I was feeling better Friday and Saturday so I decided to give it a try. Good thing I did it then because I'm flat on my back again today. I'm sure it's just a temporary setback but I wanted to be well, so I'm feeling sorry for myself. The Australian cousins are due for a 10 day visit tonight... Don't know when I'll be back painting. Hope I'll at least be out of bed!!

Take care of yourself! No need to paint right now, it is more important that you get healthy! You have all year to paint. Just remember that!
Lovely painting with rich color and texture. Sorry to hear you have been sick. Take good care and enjoy your company. See you soon.
Oh, I'm so sorry you're not fully recovered yet. I'd love to go out and paint with you soon. Let me know when you're up to it. Take vitamins to recover faster.
You probably overdid it and hopefully this is just a minor setback. Keep resting and then get back to painting those incredible rocks! (Ausies are very casual - they won't mind if you stay in bed!)
Yes, Liz... I'm feeling better and you're right... the Ausies are quite laid back!! LOL
(It's funny trying to make out some of their English... Tyler isn't quite sure what to make of it.... He's used to day being dae not die...
My husband has almost no Ausie accent or words left... no one would believe he spent 10 of his first English learning years there.
Good to hear from you Silvina!!!
I'll be well soon and would LOVE to go out painting with you!!
Leslie...
I'm going to try to make your Gale's opening.... Lots going on that weekend... What with visiting my daughter in San Diego, going to the Festival of the Masters in Laguna and my own opening at VIVA.... We'll try. HOPEFULLY I won't do too much and relapse....
If I don't make the opening I'll go by before your show is down.
Hi Dori!!
Good to hear from you.... I love visiting your website.. such wonderful work!!
What a time for guests. Sure hope you will get lots of help with that. Nothing worse than being sick to the point of not being able to really paint and being driven crazy because of that.
Please take care of yourself and get those brushes going again.
God bless.
Yeah... Not such a good time for my poor Ausie relative. He's currently down at the local hospital being checked out to see if HE has the flu or pneumonia.
It's not fun to be sick but WORSE to be sick far from home.
He says however that our health care system is efficient and well organized. (Although Australia has healthcare for all of it's citizens they had purchased coverage for traveling so they are okay and the local emergency room isn't giving them trouble.)
